The Gibson Les Paul Junior has long been associated with punk and alternative music, prized for its stripped back design, aggressive midrange punch, and straightforward functionality. From the 1970s onwards, the model became a favourite among players looking for raw, uncomplicated tone, and few modern artists are more closely associated with the Les Paul Junior than Billie Joe Armstrong. Gibson’s Billie Joe Armstrong Signature model pays tribute both to the artist and to the simplicity of the original 1950s Juniors that inspired him.
This 2007 Gibson Les Paul Junior Billie Joe Armstrong Signature is finished in black with a tortoise style pickguard, based loosely on Armstrong’s own heavily used vintage examples. Constructed with a slab mahogany body and set mahogany neck, the guitar is fitted with a single Gibson H90 pickup, combining the tonal character of a P90 with hum cancelling functionality through its stacked coil design.
The neck features a comfortable slim taper profile more in line with Gibson’s 1960s specifications, paired with an ebony fingerboard for a smooth playing feel. Other appointments include a vintage style wraparound bridge and Kluson style tuners with white plastic buttons.
This example is presented in excellent condition and includes its original Gibson hard case with distinctive leopard print interior lining, a signature feature of the model.
