Originally introduced in 1968 during the height of the psychedelic rock movement, Fender's "Blue Floral" finish remains one of the most daring and visually striking chapters in the company's history. Created by applying actual patterned wallpaper directly to the guitar bodies before sealing them in clear coat, original late-60s examples are now incredibly rare collectors pieces. This 1999 "Crafted in Japan" (CIJ) '57 Reissue is a magnificent homage to that Summer of Love aesthetic, built with the meticulous precision and premium build consistency that made late-90s Japanese Fenders world-famous.

This ST57-85BFL marries the wild 1968 finish directly to a traditional 1957 structural blueprint. Beneath the vibrant arrangement of blue, green, and pink metallic flowers lies a resonant, contoured lightweight body. The pattern is perfectly complemented by a clear plexiglass pickguard that allows the graphic to seamless shine through, accented with crisp white pickup covers and knobs and equipped with a trio of vintage-voiced Japanese single-coil pickups, it serves up all the signature pre-CBS Strat character you want: a glassy, chiming top-end, an articulate mid-range scoop, and that unmistakable, bouncy position-2 and -4 quack.

True to mid-50s specifications, the guitar is built around a gorgeous one-piece Maple neck with an integrated fingerboard. The neck is carved to a highly comfortable, period-correct soft 'V' profile that fills the hand beautifully, paired with a vintage 7.25" radius and 21 vintage-style small frets. Complete with a six-saddle synchronized tremolo bridge and vintage-style Kluson-style machine heads, it flawlessly bridges historical playability with a standout aesthetic.

As evident in the photos, this 1999 model is in exceptional, near-mint condition. Having been incredibly well-preserved over the last 27 years, it displays virtually no noticeable play wear and no typical lacquer checking. The clear pickguard remains scratch-free, the hardware retains a brilliant chrome shine, and the frets show next to no wear.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
