Introduced as B.B. King’s signature model in 1980, this 1997 Gibson Lucille is a fine example of one of Gibson’s most respected signature instruments and a fitting tribute to one of the most influential blues musicians in history. The Lucille was the second generation of the Custom version of this model, built in Nashville to high specifications. Based on several ES 335 guitars used by B.B. King throughout his career, it features a smart ebony finish, gold hardware and the distinctive ‘Lucille’ headstock inlay.
The TP 6 bridge allows for accurate intonation adjustment on each string, while the absence of open f holes helps to reduce feedback when played at volume. A vintage style Varitone switch, as found on ES 345 and 355 models, provides six preset tonal options, working alongside the 490R and 490T pickups. Additional appointments include an ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays, Grover tuners and a five ply tortoiseshell pickguard.
This guitar is in very good condition with only very minor signs of play wear, and has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
