The Fender Japan Vintage Reissue series earned a reputation throughout the 1980s and 90s for producing some of the finest non USA Fender instruments ever made. Combining period correct styling with consistently high build quality, the TL-62 faithfully recreates the look and feel of an early 1960s Telecaster, complete with a slim maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and traditional single coil pickups. Alongside the standard catalogue finishes, Fender Japan would occasionally accept factory custom orders, producing guitars in colours unavailable through regular production.
This 1994 TL-62 is one such example, factory ordered in Daphne Blue and retaining the original hand written custom order markings in the neck pocket. Over the years the clear lacquer has aged dramatically, transforming the finish into a distinctive green hue while still allowing the original Daphne Blue to show through in the cavities and neck pocket. Aside from this unique ageing, the guitar remains true to the standard TL 62 specification, including the larger USA style potentiometers used on some Japanese domestic market instruments of the period. This guitar has also been modified with a push/pull pot to enable series and parallel pickup options. Presented in good condition with honest signs of use, this is a particularly unusual Fender Japan Telecaster that stands apart from the vast majority of production examples.
This guitar is in excellent, original condition, with barely any signs of cosmetic wear to speak of.
