Introduced in 1960 as Gibson’s first square-shoulder dreadnought, the Hummingbird quickly became an icon of the acoustic world, championed by legends from Keith Richards to Gram Parsons. This 1991 example was built during the highly regarded "Early Bozeman" era in Montana, a period celebrated for restoring Gibson Acoustic’s reputation for premium craftsmanship, hand-scalloped bracing, and world-class tone.
Finished in a gorgeous Vintage Cherry Sunburst, this Hummingbird is constructed with a solid Sitka Spruce top and solid Mahogany back and sides. This classic wood combination gives the guitar its legendary "sweet" and balanced acoustic voice. Making it the ultimate singer-songwriter's companion and an absolute dream in the recording studio.
True to its historic roots, the guitar features all the iconic Hummingbird appointments: the legendary engraved tortoiseshell pickguard, double-parallelogram mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays, and multi-ply top and back binding. The Mahogany neck features a comfortable, slim-to-medium '60s-style profile that feels effortless to navigate.
This 1991 model is in excellent vintage condition, with little signs of players wear (the mark on the top is in the wood grain not a scratch) and the original frets have plenty of life left. It includes it's original hard shell Gibson case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
