Introduced in 1962, the Fender Jaguar was intended as Fender’s new top of the line model, combining an offset body design with an extensive switching system and a shorter 24" scale length. Although initially aimed at professional players, the Jaguar would later become closely associated with alternative and indie musicians, with custom colour examples from the 1960s now among the most desirable vintage Fender instruments.
This 1966 Fender Jaguar is a particularly striking example, finished in factory custom colour Candy Apple Red and fitted with period correct Fender gold hardware. The matching paint transfer and ageing visible around the hardware strongly suggest this was a factory special order specification from new, rather than a later conversion.
The guitar remains internally and externally original, with both potentiometers dating to the 34th week of 1966 (137 6634) and the neck heel bearing an AUG 66 B stamp. The electronics are original and fully functional, and the instrument presents in notably clean condition throughout with only light signs of age and use.
A superb and highly collectable custom colour Jaguar from the CBS transition era, complete with its original Fender case and original hang tag.
This guitar has been given a full service & setup by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
