Palomar Sound Prickly Pear Dual Overdrive

The Palomar Sound Prickly Pear is a dual overdrive designed around two identical drive circuits that can be used independently or combined to create a wide range of gain structures. Simple in layout but highly versatile in practice, it allows players to stack overdrives in different ways, from transparent boosts to rich, saturated distortion, making it equally at home as an always on tone shaper or a high gain drive.

Each side features its own dedicated Volume and Gain controls, allowing the circuits to be set independently. Run either side on its own for low to medium gain sounds, place one circuit before the other to increase saturation and compression, or use the second stage as a volume boost for solos and dynamic level changes. Engaging both circuits together produces a thick, harmonically rich drive with plenty of sustain and output, while retaining the clarity and responsiveness that define Palomar Sound designs.

The straightforward control layout makes the Prickly Pear easy to integrate into any pedalboard, with each circuit individually footswitchable for instant access to multiple gain levels throughout a performance.
