The Electronic Audio Experiments Scattering Stereo Reverb takes a different approach to digital reverb. Rather than aiming for smooth, diffuse ambience, it is built around a complex network of delay lines that creates fluttering reflections, ringing repeats and unusual spatial textures.
Four modes, inspired by different configurations of the discontinued MN3011 bucket brigade device, move from harsh and metallic to dark, murky and saturated. The result is an effect that can sound abstract and experimental, but remains practical enough for saturated guitar sounds, modulation and spacious stereo effects.
Scattering features true stereo I/O and an analogue/digital hybrid signal path, combining 24 bit processing with analogue filtering and a high headroom analogue dry path. Sixteen presets, full MIDI control, assignable modulation and expression morphing make it far more versatile than a typical reverb pedal, with extensive control over how the effect behaves in a live or studio setup.
