Since their introduction in 1954, the Gibson Les Paul Junior has been the epitome of a stripped back solid body guitar, with the focus purely on a great sound and unmatched playability. Despite the lack of tonal options, these guitars are incredibly versatile, and have found their way in to the hand of many players across a range of styles. This 1955 Gibson Les Paul Junior is a fantastic example of a Junior from this period.
Featuring a slab Mahogany body finished in a Sunburst lacquer that has aged to an almost 3 tone burst, this guitar is in excellent condition with just the right amount of wear and patina to the finish. The original black bobbin dog ear P90 pickup packs a bunch and has some serious bite when you dig in with a pick. This guitar has had its wrap around bridge and bridge posts replaced at some point in its life. The electronics are original, including an original Cornell Dubilier capacitor and original Centralab pots, although the date codes are obscured by solder. The tuners are original although the buttons have been replaced, and this guitar comes with a non original period style chipboard case.
