Like many Fender guitars from the end of the 1970s and start of the 1980s, this 1981 Fender Telecaster is an interesting crossover example from a period where the company was using a mixture of existing parts across different production years. Although the serial number on the neck dates to 1978, the original potentiometers are dated to 1981 and appear to be factory fitted, suggesting that the guitar was assembled and officially completed during 1981 using a neck from an earlier production run.
The guitar features the familiar Telecaster specification, with an alder body, four bolt neck construction and a comfortable late 1970s neck profile. The original single coil pickups deliver the classic combination of bright, cutting bridge tones and warmer, rounded sounds from the neck position, while other period correct details include the original F stamped tuners and three barrel chrome bridge.
This guitar is in very good condition, with only minor signs of play wear and natural patina visible throughout. It remains internally and externally original, retaining its original electronics and hardware as fitted when the guitar was completed in 1981. This guitar is also supplied with a non original hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
