The Les Paul Custom has remained Gibson’s flagship solid body model since its introduction in 1954, combining the familiar Les Paul construction with more elaborate appointments and premium specifications. By the mid 1970s, the model had become closely associated with the heavier “Norlin era” construction style, including pancake body construction, multi ply binding, and gold hardware throughout.
This 1975 Gibson Les Paul Custom is a strong player grade example finished in the classic Black Beauty style, featuring the Mahogany / Maple / Mahogany pancake body construction, Mahogany neck, and Ebony fingerboard with block inlays and split diamond headstock inlay. The gold hardware and multiply binding remain consistent with the traditional Les Paul Custom specification.
The guitar is presented in good condition overall, showing areas of honest play wear and ageing consistent with regular use. The bridge has been replaced, although the original is included in the case despite having become fairly warped over time. There has also been some previous fingerboard separation from the neck on the lower bass side of the board, which has been glued and is solid. Other tuners have previously been fitted, leaving evidence of earlier installations. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a Seymour Duncan humbucker, while the original Gibson T Top remains in the neck position. The wiring loom appears correct and original, although the potentiometer codes are obscured and unreadable. The pickup covers have also been removed.
Supplied with a non original hard case.
