By the early 1970s, the Fender Stratocaster had adopted many of the features now synonymous with the CBS era, including the larger headstock introduced a few years earlier while retaining the familiar grey bottom pickups and classic three single coil layout. These early 1970s instruments continue to offer much of the character associated with late 1960s Strats, making them an increasingly popular choice for players and collectors alike.
This 1971 Fender Stratocaster is a well preserved example, finished in custom order factory Black, and retaining its original trio of grey bottom pickups, each dated to 1971, along with the original wiring loom and potentiometers. The maple neck features the larger 1970s headstock and has benefited from a professional refret, while the fingerboard and headstock have received a sympathetic clear lacquer overspray to protect the new fretwork. The guitar displays light, honest play wear with attractive lacquer crazing and a gentle patina developed over more than five decades. Complete with its original hard case, it remains a highly original Stratocaster that captures the look, feel and sound of Fender's early 1970s production.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
