This 1968 Gibson ES-335 in rare Sparkling Burgundy is a standout example from one of Gibson’s most celebrated semi-hollow models, offering the familiar blend of airy resonance, smooth sustain, and versatile tonal range that has defined the model since its introduction. As many Sparkling Burgundy models can, this particular guitar has aged in a specific way, with an orange-golden hue to the top of the body, while more of the red is retained on the back.
This guitar remains in very good condition for its age, with some play wear and a naturally developed patina to the finish, along with some lacquer checking throughout. It is fitted with its original late ’60s Patent Number humbuckers, delivering the articulate and dynamic tone associated with this era. The original pots have been replaced, and there have previously been some alternative tuners installed, with the standard double line Kluson style tuners now back in place. The double ring tuner buttons appear to be replacements. This guitar also includes its original yellowed lined case.
As with all vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
