This 1968 Fender Telecaster is a particularly desirable custom order example, finished in factory Black and fitted from new with a Fender branded Bigsby vibrato. Combined with its custom order Maple Cap neck, it represents the sort of special specification instrument that Fender would occasionally produce during the late 1960s, making it stand out from standard production Telecasters of the period.

Built with an alder body and maple neck, the guitar features a June 1968 neck stamp and a maple cap fingerboard rather than the rosewood board more commonly seen at the time. The original single coil pickups deliver the classic Telecaster combination of bright, cutting bridge tones and warmer neck sounds, while the factory Bigsby adds a distinctive feel and aesthetic. Internally, the guitar remains original, with CTS potentiometers dating to the 17th week of 1966, reflecting Fender's continued use of earlier stock components.

This guitar shows plenty of honest play wear, particularly to the rear of the body where years of use have left their mark. The pickguard has also discoloured over time, adding to the guitar’s well played appearance. It has benefited from a professional refret and replacement nut, but otherwise remains internally and externally original.

Included with the guitar are its original case, hang tag, and period Fender paperwork.

This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty. Please enquire for any internal pictures.
