Introduced in 1962, the Jaguar was intended to be Fender's new top of the line model, but with its unique sound, switching options and shorter scale, it would go on to find favour with alternative musicians throughout the following decades.
This 1967 Fender Jaguar is a wonderful instrument, and a fantastic example of a Fender offset from the CBS transitional era, showcasing some of the features that define guitars from this period. The alder body features a factory custom colour Candy Apple Red finish and is fitted with a set of single coil Jaguar pickups, which when combined with the rhythm and lead switching circuitry offer a huge amount of tonal versatility, equally at home with twangy surf playing and heavier rock. The neck has a comfortable mid '60s profile and features the neck binding and pearl block inlays that would become standard on the model from 1966 onwards.
This guitar is in very good condition and is externally and internally original, including the original string mute! The original Candy Apple Red finish displays some areas of wear to the rear of the body, with the gold undercoat visible in places, along with a black mark on the matching headstock that we assume is from a reaction with a capo. The electronics are original and in perfect working order, with the pots dating to the 17th week of 1966. The heel of the neck shows a MAR 67 ink stamp. This guitar also includes its original orange lined case, tremolo arm, string mute and original bridge, and a period offset guitar instruction booklet.
