Originally introduced as Fender's mid '60s flagship student model, the Fender Mustang has become a favourite of players of all styles due to its comfortable short scale design and its unique sound, due in part to the pickup phase switching only found on this model.
This 1965 Mustang is a fantastic example, and is in all original condition. This guitar also features the shorter 22 1/2" scale length and an smaller 'A' neck width. It is rare to see Mustangs with this construction, as most were manufactured at 24" scale length, with the shorter scale more associated with earlier Musicmaster and Duo Sonic guitars. The neck date is April '65, with the original pots dating to the 38th week of '65 and the grey bottom pickups dating to the middle of 1965. The pearl pickguard and all other hardware is also original and in great condition. The maple neck features a veneer Rosewood board and slab alder body.
The original blue lacquer finish shows obvious signs of play wear and patina, but is in generally very good condition. This guitar also includes its original case.
As with all vintage instruments, this 1965 Fender Mustang has been given a full service and appraisal by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
