Like the Martin D-18 and D-28, the Martin D-21 has long been a trusted dreadnought acoustic guitar for working musicians, and was the entry point for rosewood backed models in the Martin lineup. With a slightly stripped back look compared to the D-28 model, and supposedly made using the less glamorous looking cuts of Rosewood, the D-21 is still packed full of all the vintage Martin tone you could ever need.

This model from 1963 is a fantastic example of an affordable vintage Martin, featuring a nicely aged Spruce top and Rose back & sides. This D-21 has a crystal clear, balanced tonal character, with all the clarity and string definition you expect from a vintage Martin. The rosewood back provides plenty of tight low end response without compromising on the top end sparkle, and this particular example projects especially well, being one of the lighter built Martin dreadnoughts we have had from this period. This guitar features the traditional belly down bridge, tortoiseshell pick guard and binding.

This guitar is in very good condition, with some play wear to the top around the sound hole, and on the back of the body, along with the kind of lacquer ageing and patina you would expect from a guitar of this age. It has benefitted from a neck reset at some point in its life to ensure it continues to play as it should, and has also been fitted with a piezo pickup. The original tuners have been replaced with a set of repro open gear tuners with tortoiseshell style buttons, but is otherwise in original condition and includes a non original hard case.

As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 2 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty. Get an additional 3 years workshop warranty cover with the No.Tom Guitars Extended Warranty
