First introduced in 1942 as the natural-finish alternative to the legendary J-45, the Gibson J-50 holds a cherished place in acoustic history as one of the go-to flat-top for singer-songwriters. Famously championed by Bob Dylan on his early iconic albums! Golden Era early-'60s examples are highly coveted for maintaining the round-shoulder body shape and wider nut widths before Gibson transitioned to square shoulders and narrower necks later in the decade.
Constructed at Kalamazoo with a solid Spruce top paired with solid Mahogany back and sides, six decades of natural aging have ambered the nitrocellulose finish into a rich, honeyed tone.
We at No.Tom are huge fans of the adjustable (ADJ) Ceramic saddle and Nylon bridge! However not everyone is, and this guitar has previously had a wooden saddle fitted, but it's now returned to its former glory with a repro ceramic saddle. The guitar has also benefited from a new top-nut and a re-fret but aside from this, the guitar remains in totally original condition and is an excellent example.
