1962 Silvertone 1448 Amp-In-Case

Introduced in 1962 as an affordable amp and guitar set aimed at student players, the 1448 model was manufactured by Danelectro and sold under the Silvertone brand between 1962 & 1968 throughout department stores and catalogs in the US. The Silverstone 1448 was the introductory model in the companies range, but still exhibits all the vintage tone and unique style that makes Silverstone, Danelectro & Harmony guitars so popular. This 1962 Silvertone 1448 Amp-In-Case model is a great, affordable vintage guitar and amp package! 

The Sivlertone 1448 features a chambered body design that adds a bit of warmth and depth to the sound, with a poplar frame and centre block supporting a Masonite top and back. Designed as a 3/4 scale instrument, the body is fitted with a single Lipstick pickup in the middle position, which is capable of a particularly unique, crunchy sound, especially through a low wattage tube amp. The neck features a comfortable 'C' shaped profile and flat fingerboard radius, with the lower string tension from the short scale design making it particularly comfortable to play. This guitar is finished in a cool '60s style metallic sparkle black.

The amplifier is built in to the top corner of the guitar's hard case, and features a 5" speaker and 3 watts of tube output. This amp is in good condition, and again has a cool vintage tone that is particular to the kind of instruments produced by Silverstone and similar companies at the time. The preamp valves have been replaced, with the original Silvertone output and rectifier valves present and correct. The amp has also been recapped, and a 3 prong power chord fitted. 

This guitar is in very good, all original condition, with only minor signs of play wear, and has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop. This guitar also includes a 3 year warranty.
