Guild guitars from the 1950s and 1960s remain among the most underrated instruments on the vintage market, particularly those built at the company’s Hoboken, New Jersey factory, which are renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and tone.
This 1962 Guild Starfire II exemplifies this golden era of Guild thinline production. Fitted with a pair of single-coil pickups made by Rowe Industries, it offers a beautifully balanced sound with bright chime and just the right amount of bite when pushed. Other features include the original Waverley tuners, harp tailpiece, and 'Chesterfield' Guild headstock inlay.
This guitar is in good condition, with the kind of play wear expected from a guitar of this age. This guitar has also had a previous headstock repair, and an area of back binding reglued. The electronics, finish and hardware are all original and fully working, and this guitar retains its original case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
