First introduced in 1930, Martin’s 'Style 17' instruments hold a special place in acoustic history as the definitive all-mahogany, non-bound design. Built at the legendary Nazareth factory during the peak of the post-war "Golden Era," this 1958 00-17 delivers that signature dry, punchy mahogany voice in an exceptionally comfortable Grand Concert size.
Constructed with a solid Honduran Mahogany top, back, and sides, nearly seven decades of natural aging have dried the tonewoods completely, allowing the body to vibrate with immediate responsiveness and charm.
As shown in the photos, this '58 survivor carries honest, authentic play wear; exhibiting lacquer checking, picking marks, surface scratches, and edge wear that highlight its life.
This example remains in totally original condition with the exception of 2 small repaired cracks on the lower back, a repaired side crack and an enlarged strap button hole (as a result of a soundhole pickup being fitted at some point in it's life). There was some back separation on the back near the end block, which our luthier has glued and confirmed is structurally sound.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
