The Gibson J-45 was first introduced in 1942 as the companies flagship, affordable dreadnought guitar, and remained so for many decades to follow. This 1957 Gibson J-45 ADJ is a fantastic example in truly exceptional condition.
Constructed from a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, this J-45 features the shorter, uncscalloped bracing introduced in 1955. Although not as lightly braced as earlier examples, this J-45 still really sings, with a punchy, well balanced tone that excels with both finger style and flat picked playing. The neck profile is a comfortable, slightly slimmer '57 style profile, with a chunky yet playable feel, and an 1 11/16ths nut width. The original belly up bridge is present and correct, and features an early example of the adjustable bridge that would become more commonplace in the 1960s, first offered as a special order option in 1956.
This guitar is in excellent condition for an instrument of its age, with only the most minimal signs of play wear. This guitar is in original condition save for an aged set of repro tuners and a set of ebony bridge pins, with the original bridge pins retained in the case. This guitar also includes a non original hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
