Introduced during the 1950s, the Gretsch Streamliner offered players the same full sized hollowbody platform found on the company's higher end models, but with a more straightforward specification and a lower price tag. Sharing much of its construction with the legendary 6120, the Streamliner has become a popular choice for players seeking vintage Gretsch character, with many examples later converted to dual pickup specification to unlock even greater versatility.
This 1956 Gretsch Streamliner has been sympathetically upgraded with a second pickup and Bigsby vibrato, transforming it into a highly usable vintage hollowbody while retaining all of the charm of the original model. The additional vintage DeArmond pickup blends well with the original neck unit, providing a balanced range of tones that feel entirely at home on the guitar, while the Bigsby installation has been professionally carried out. Finished in the striking Bamboo Yellow and Copper Mist two tone scheme, the body has aged beautifully, with both finishes remaining particularly well preserved and showing very little wear around the bridge area. The guitar also benefits from an excellent neck angle, suggesting a previous neck reset, resulting in a comfortable low action with scope for further adjustment if desired.
This guitar includes a non original Hiscox hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
