The Gibson LG 3/4 first appears in the 1950 Gibson catalog, although this fantastic model from 1948 shows a slightly earlier FON. The LG 3/4 was one of 4 models offered by Gibson from the early 1950's onwards that were marketed specifically towards younger student players, with a small, rounded body shape compared to an LG-1 or LG-2, and a ladder braced top. This 1948 LG 3/4 features an early example of the gold block font headstock logo, and is constructed from a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, with a triple bound body and teardrop celluloid pickguard.

These guitars feature the ladder braced Spruce top used on the less expensive Gibson models at the time. Although not traditionally considered as resonant or characterful as X braced models, there are plenty of wonderful sounding ladder braced guitars to be found from the '40s, '50s and '60s, and this is certainly one of them. The neck profile is a comfortable, with the more rounded, low profile full 'C' on models from this period, with its shorter scale making it particularly playable.

This guitar is in very good condition for an instrument of its age, with all the signs of play wear you would expect. There appear to have been no serious repairs or breaks, although there is some play wear and lacquer wear visible around the pickguard and on the soundboard. The guitar is original with the exception of the tuner buttons, which have been replaced.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
