If you were an aspiring steel player in the 1940's & 50's, the Gibson BR9 Lap Steel was probably the instrument you dreamed of owning. These Lap Steels were introduced in 1947, and featured a single pickup six string configuration. This Gibson BR9 is an undeniably stylish instrument, and as with most Lap Steels of this period has a sort of mid-century modern styling to it. Finished in cream with a Cremona brown lucite pickup cover and fingerboard, along with two radio style knobs for volume and tone controls.
This lap steel is in very good condition, with very few signs of wear to the finish. The pickup is original although it has been rewound, and the tuners are original although the buttons have been changed. Other than this, the instrument is in all original condition. As with all our vintage instruments, this Gibson BR9 has been given a full service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and includes a three year warranty. The original case is also included.
