This beautiful 1938 Martin 000-18 is a great example of a guitar from Martin's pre-war golden age of craftsmanship. Constructed from a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, this guitar is a particularly lightweight and resonant example for a 000 model, with a top wood that has nicely aged over the years. This model also features a tortoise celluloid pick guard and binding.
This guitar has sustained a number of repairs and modifications over the course of its life, but still retains a tone that few acoustic guitars are able to reach. This guitar has benefitted from both a neck reset and refret at some point in its life, as well as a replacement ebony bridge and new bridge plate. As such, there has been some overspray on the neck heel and shoulders which is common with neck resets. The neck itself has previously been fully refinished. There are also a number of side a top cracks which have been repaired at different points in the instruments life, all of which are stable. Finally, at some point neck binding has been added, along with Martin 'snowflake' style inlays replacing the factory dot markers.
As with all our vintage instruments, this 1938 000-18 has been given a full service by the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
