Introducing the Guild D-55E, one of the companies most iconic instruments, now hand made in Oxnard, CA. Originally introduced in 1968 as a special-order model, the D-55 has long been the companies top of the line Dreadnought acoustic guitar.
Remaining true to its 1968 predecessor, the D-55 features premium appointments such as a AAA Sitka spruce top, solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and a nitrocellulose finish. Internal specs include scalloped Adirondack X bracing and an improved dovetail neck-joint, resulting in the lightest, loudest, and best-sounding generation of the D-55.
This D-55E proudly displays Guild's iconic fully bound headstock with the "Peak and Shield" inlay combination over a figured ebony overlay. The ebony fingerboard is also fully bound and inlaid with Guild's signature abalone/pearl "V-Blocks" and multi-line "railroad track" purfling on both bass and treble sides. The all-mahogany neck features a beautiful walnut center seam running from heel to headstock.
The nitro finish of the D-55 is hand-sprayed for maximum resonance and minimum thickness, ensuring it will only improve with age. Each D-55E comes with a hand-signed, numbered certificate of authenticity, along with an L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system and Guild hard case.
