The EarthQuaker Devices Ghost Echo offers a spooky twist on vintage amp-top spring reverberation units. This eerie analog/digital spring reverb emulation device features 30ms – 150ms pre-delay, adjustable with the Attack knob, catering to anything from quick rockabilly slapback to immersive pools of ghostly reverberations. During staccato play, you'll experience haunting reverb trails, producing a slapback or echo effect. On the other hand, legato playing unveils a profound ambient "depth" that enriches the sound in to a natural and at times cavernous spring tank reverb.
The Dwell control dictates the length and thickness of the decay, essentially determining how long the spectral remnants of departed notes linger in the air. At the maximum setting, it plunges into an endless loop of self-oscillation. The Depth adjusts the reverb intensity, akin to the wet/dry mix.
Controls:
1. Attack: Adjusts the length of the pre-delay, from 30ms at minimum to about 150ms at maximum. When the Dwell is set to self-oscillate, this will change the pitch of the oscillations.
2. Dwell: Adjusts the length of the decay. This will start to self oscillate around 3 O’clock, the pitch of the oscillations can be changed by turning the Attack control.
3. Depth: Mixes in the wet signal with the dry, unity is around noon and everything after is boosted.
