Introduced in 1960 as their top of the line bass guitar model to partner the new Jazzmaster six string, the Fender Jazz Bass has become a staple of studio and stage, with its dual pickup configuration and slimmer nut width making it both more comfortable and more versatile than other electric basses on the market.

This 1964 Fender Jazz bass is an incredible example, in original condition and with years of play wear that add plenty of vintage mojo. The lightweight Alder body features the original 3 tone sunburst which has worn nicely around the lower bout on the front side, as well as the natural finger resting places around the pickups and pickguard. The rear of the body has a great deal of play wear through to the wood, which in our opinion only adds to its vintage appeal. The maple neck features an unbound veneer rosewood fingerboard, along with clay dot fret markers.

The original pickups sound snappy and punchy, with all the carved out clarity a vintage Jazz Bass should have. The electronics are all original, with the exception of the jack output wire, which is newer. The original pots all date to the 50th week of 1963 (304 6350) and the orange disc capacitor is present and correct. The tortoise guard is original and has a distinctive vibrant colour to it, although it does show the usual signs of warping around the edges. All other hardware is original, including the 'L' series neck plate, open gear tuners and threaded saddle bridge.
