Best known for his work with The Clash, Joe Strummer is one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, with his song writing, guitar playing style and stage presence inspiring a generation of musicians. Throughout his career, he relied mainly on the Fender Telecaster & Fender Esquire for his tone, and it is the latter which has been expertly recreated by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Jason Smith. This Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Joe Strummer Esquire Relic reincarnates this legendary Clash era guitar in exacting detail, with its black racing stripe, custom “Bourbon Street” sticker and custom Relic finish.
Features include a 2-piece offset seam alder body, with a 1-ply eggshell pickguard, flat-sawn maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, 9.5” radius, medium jumbo frets, a ’59 “C” shaped profile and Schaller mini tuning machines. A top-load/string-through Tele® bridge assembly is set up with a Josefina hand-wound 55/56 bridge pickup wired up to a 3-way switch and a ‘59 Esquire wiring. Also includes is a certificate of authenticity, strap and a custom pink anvil case with “Strummer” stencil and leopard print lining.
