Paul Reed Smith and John Mayer worked closely together to create the PRS Silver Sky, with Mayer wanting to incorporate parts of his favourite vintage guitars with the signature PRS build quality and design. This 2019 PRS Silver Sky is almost entirely different from the well-known PRS design, with reworked electronics, a whole new neck shape, and an all-new look.

PRS are renowned for producing some of the world's most best electric guitars, with their renowned attention to detail and unmatched build quality solidifying their position as a go to for pro's as enthusiasts alike. A number of appointments on the Silver Sky are reminiscent of Mayer's distinctive '60s Stratocasters, which he has performed on numerous tours with throughout the years. Among these is the body wood, alder, which produces a rich, powerful tone that is masterfully tempered. The PRS DC3 model served as the basis for the body shape, which was modified several times before it was ideal. Notably, the distinctive PRS lower horn scoop has been kept.

With Mayer's traditional specification preferences in mind, the three 635JM singlecoil pickups on the Silver Sky offer a vibrant tone that can be both "round" and "full," while being equally clean, crisp, and with subdued high-end that sounds particularly sweet through a nice tube amp. Controlled with a 5-way blade pickup selector, two tone controls, and a single volume knob, the full range of Mayer's tonal pallete is available to you.

The tuners have a closed-back, vintage-style construction, while incorporating the PRS locking system. The PRS double-action truss rod is utilised in numerous models from their core line, and guarantees constant neck stability and longevity.  With a few contemporary PRS modifications, the bridge maintains the tuners' vintage aesthetic. The steel tremolo arm is adjustable using a small-set screw, preventing the arm from breaking off like other older tremolo-equipped guitars.

This guitar is in excellent, all original condition, and has been given a full service and set up by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop.
