Built exclusively for the 2014 NAMM show as part of a highly limited run, this Custom Shop Martin 0000-14 is a striking example of the brand’s top of the line craftsmanship. Featuring a tone wood pairing of sinker mahogany and a high-altitude Swiss spruce top, this instrument brings together exceptional materials and elegant appointments in a bold 0000 body size.
The top is crafted from premium-grade European Alpine spruce—certified and sourced from high altitudes—braced with scalloped Adirondack braces in a 5/16” standard pattern to enhance projection and responsiveness. The back and sides are crafted using Sinker Mahogany, offering warmth and depth, with a two-piece construction centred by a Style 28 purfling flanked by D-18-style strip on either side. The body is finished with rosewood back binding and rosewood endpiece, and Style 45 wood fibre rosette inlays, with select abalone adding a subtle five-piece shimmer.
The 0000 body - also referred to as an M - delivers an open and balanced tonal response, ideal for both fingerstyle and flatpicking. The mahogany neck is constructed with a traditional dovetail joint and features a modified low oval profile.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
