When Gibson first unveiled the Explorer in 1958 as part of their "Modernistic" series, its radical, angular design was decades ahead of its time. This 2010 Epiphone reissue is a faithful tribute to that original 'space age' icon, crafted from Korina - the same tonewood used for the elusive originals. Offering a unique combination of lightweight comfort and a rich, resonant frequency response.

Often described as 'Mahogany on steroids' Korina provides a warm, sustain-heavy tone with an added dose of top-end clarity. This Explorer is powered by a pair of Alnico Classic humbuckers, delivering a versatile range of tones from creamy blues-rock growl to aggressive high-gain bite. The large body mass of the Explorer shape contributes to a naturally resonant instrument with incredible natural sustain.

The neck features a comfortable slim taper profile that balances the chunkiness of the late 50s with a more modern, playable feel. Finished in a classic Natural Korina finish with gold hardware, this guitar captures the high-end aesthetic of one of the rarest production guitars in history.

This 2010 example is in excellent condition, showing only light surface wear and almost zero tarnishing on the gold hardware. Includes padded gig bag.

As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 1 year warranty.
