In the 1950's, the Gibson L-5 CES was the headline model of the Gibson archtop range along with the Byrdland, and its deep body, long scale design made it the cream of the crop for professional musicians of the day. This 2005 Gibson Custom Shop L-5 CES is a rare example, custom ordered from Gibson in the Ebony finish for a limited run through Wildwood Guitars in 2005. This guitar seeks to recreate the class of those original instruments, with a select Maple body and neck and high grade Spruce top. The body is fitted with a set of '57 Classic Humbuckers that perfectly capture the tone of those early Alnico V pickups. Other vintage inspired features include the mother of pearl flower pot peghead inlay, multi ply neck and body binding, and 'L-5' engraved flat plate tailpiece.
This guitar is in very good cosmetic condition and retains its original case and paperwork. There is only very minor signs of use to speak of, and it is internally and externally original.
