Commonly referred to as "The Workhorse," the J-45 has been a staple of the Gibson line since 1942. This particular example is a rare custom order reissue of the legendary "Banner" era J-45, commissioned specifically for the renowned Dave’s Guitar Shop in 2000. It stands as a meticulous tribute to the wartime acoustics that defined the American folk and country sound.
This J-45 features the iconic "Only a Gibson is Good Enough" banner logo on the headstock, a hallmark of the 1942–1945 production period. Built with a solid Sitka Spruce top and premium solid Mahogany back and sides, this guitar possesses the dry, woody "thump" and mid-range warmth that vintage Gibson enthusiasts love.
The neck features a period-correct, substantial profile that feels great in the hand, paired with a Rosewood fingerboard and a vintage-style rectangular bridge. The Sunburst finish is a stunning example of Gibson’s Bozeman-era craftsmanship, showcasing a rich, deep glow that has aged beautifully over the last two decades.
This guitar is in excellent condition, showing only very light signs of use and minor surface marks. In totally original condition with the exception of a new saddle (old one is still in the case).
Includes the original Gibson Art & Historic hardshell case.
As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
