This 1999 Bourgeois Country Boy is a prime example of Dana Bourgeois’ early craftsmanship—hand-built before the Pantheon era and signed by Ricky Skaggs himself. Designed in collaboration with Skaggs and named after his hit song, the Country Boy quickly became a flagship model for Bourgeois Guitars. Built with AAAA-grade Bearclaw Sitka Spruce for the top and stunning figured Honduran Mahogany for the back and sides, this dreadnought delivers a bold, punchy tone that cuts through a mix with ease.
This is not just any guitar—it’s a seasoned instrument with over two decades of play behind it, and it shows in the richness, projection, and tonal maturity that new guitars often lack. Exceptionally loud, articulate, and responsive, this pre-war influenced dreadnought was built with bluegrass in mind but excels across genres thanks to its clarity and warmth. The Mahogany’s vibrant figure and the finely-grained top reflect Dana Bourgeois's meticulous wood selection, while the minimalist styling keeps the focus entirely on tone and feel.
This guitar is in excellent, all original condition, and includes its original case.
