First introduced in 1963, the Gibson Firebird was a guitar many years ahead of its time. Its futuristic reverse body and neck through body construction made it a unique guitar for the period, and while its initial tenure was short lived, it has cemented itself as a cult favourite in the years since. This 1991 Gibson Firebird V is a great reissue of the original, from an excellent period of Gibson electric production. Finished in a vibrant Cardinal Red, this guitar is very clean, with little play wear to speak of except for a nice amount of lacquer checking. The Firebird spec humbucker pickups a slightly hotter than their vintage equivalents, with a voicing that is at home with more modern rock playing as well '60s tones. Other features include a white pickguard sporting the Firebird decal, nickel banjo style tuners, and a rosewood fingerboard with a comfortably chunky neck shape.

This guitar is in very good, all original condition, and includes a non original flight case. This guitar came to us from Mark Webber, guitarist for Pulp, and was used for recording across the albums Different Class, This Is Hardcore and We Love Life, as well as countless live shows.

This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
