Introduced in 1988, the Fender Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster pays homage to one of the most influential guitarists of the last half a century, with a spec derived partly from his own 'Blackie' Stratocaster, modernised alongside Dan Smith and Fender in the mid 1980's. This 1990 Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster is a fantastic, early example of these signature models, perfectly encapsulating Eric Clapton's tone and style at the time.
This guitar is constructed from an Alder body with a Maple neck that sports a soft 'V' neck profile, drawn from Clapton's preference for '57 style 'V' neck shapes on vintage Stratocasters. The neck features a flatter 9.5" radius, with 22 vintage spec frets that give the feel of a vintage guitar with slightly easier string bending. The body is fitted with a set of Gold Lace Sensor pickups, which paired with the Fender designed MDX mid boost circuitry give a, fat compressed sound with plenty of tonal range that can touch on a humbucker sound when required. Other features include Kluson style Gotoh made tuners, an American Vintage 'blocked' tremolo as per Clapton's preferred spec, and a striking Candy Green finish only available on this model.
This guitar has been kept in exceptional condition during the course of its life, with barely any signs of play wear to speak of. It is internally and externally original, with the original finish, electronics, pickups and all hardware being present and correct. It even retains its original hang tags and sticker covering the tremolo arm mounting hole! This guitar also includes its original Fender case.
This guitar has been given a full service & appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
