Guild guitars from the late '80s and early '90s often fly under the radar, but in our opinion, they represent some of the best value vintage electrics out there—particularly the Westerly, RI-built models, which offer exceptional build quality, playability, and tone. This 1990 Guild Starfire SF-4 is a superb example of that era, delivering classic semi-hollow character with a level of craftsmanship that easily stands up to better-known alternatives.

The SF-4 takes clear inspiration from the earlier Starfire models, with a laminated maple semi-hollow body and centre block construction. Finished in a vibrant translucent red and fitted with gold hardware, this particular example features one of the more highly flamed cuts of maple we have seen from Guild's of this period. It’s loaded with a pair of Guild’s HB-1 humbuckers, known for their warm, balanced tone and great dynamic response—perfect for anything from clean jazz tones to gritty overdrive. Other features include a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and the original Guild-branded stop tailpiece.

This guitar is in very good condition and includes its original case. It is internally and externally original, with pots dating to mid 1988 (883X)
