The initial early run of 'JV' Squier instruments made in Japan in the 1980's are now revered as classics among many players, due to their affordability and build quality. Fender continued to make Squier guitars in Japan on and off throughout the '80s, and this 1987 Squier Stratocaster is a great example of a later period, affordable Japanese made Squier guitar.

Featuring an Alder body and Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard, this 1987 Squier Strat stays fairly true to the vintage style spec of other MIJ Fender models. Although more modern than the Fender Japan '57 & '62 reissues, the body is fitted with two vintage voiced single coil pickups and a Seymour Duncan stacked humbucker in the bridge position. The neck has a comfortable modern 'C' neck profile, and the headstock is fitted with a set of Gotoh tuners. There appears to have been a non-factory string retainer fitted to the headstock at some point.

This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 1 year warranty.
