Established in the mid-1960s producing both solid-body and acoustic guitars, Greco expanded rapidly amid the booming demand of the 1970s, developing an extensive range aimed largely at the Japanese market. Many of these instruments took clear inspiration from leading American models, often rivaling or surpassing them in build quality. Today, Greco is celebrated for its superb craftsmanship and outstanding value, offering players genuine vintage appeal without the premium price tag.
This 1987 Greco Country Artist is a rare Japanese-made recreation of the early ’60s Gretsch Country Gentleman, showcasing Greco’s remarkable attention to vintage detail. It features a full 17" wide thinline hollow maple body paired with a maple neck and bound rosewood fingerboard, combining elegant looks with excellent resonance. A set of Filter’Tron-style humbuckers delivers a wide palette of Gretsch-inspired tones, from bright, articulate twang to smooth, resonant warmth.
This guitar is in very condition, with very little play wear to speak of. A Gretsch branded Bigsby has been added, along with a set of Gretsch tuners. This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
