The Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe was introduced in 1978 as a top of the line version of the companies Les Paul Deluxe model, paying homage to Les Pauls of the early '50s with a set of factory fitted P90 pickups. Les Paul Pro Deluxe models are not particularly common, and were out of production by 1982, with the Goldtop models being especially uncommon.
This 1980 Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe features a solid Mahogany body along with a Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard with pearloid trapezoid inlays. The body features the typical carved Maple top finished in a '50s style gold lacquer, which shows very limited wear and patina for a guitar of its age. The wiring and pots are original and fully functional, along with the bridge, tailpiece and Schaller made Gibson tuners. The control knobs have been changed, and the original pots date to the 9th week of 1980.
This guitar is in very good condition, with only the most minor signs of play wear to speak of, predominantly to the rear of the body. The truss rod cover and pickup switch tip are non original, and the guitar includes its original case. As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by the luthier at the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 3 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty.
