The Gibson Les Paul Custom has always been considered the companies top of the line solidbody model, featuring the same sought after Gibson humbucker tone as other models, but with a finish and level of detail that is a cut above the rest. This 1979 Les Paul Custom is a great example of a late '70s Les Paul.
Featuring a Mahogany body and Maple top, this guitar is finished in a deep Wine Red that really shows off the wood grain. The fretboard is in good condition, and the neck is comfortably playable without being too small in the hand. The pickups sound particularly good, with a beefier, hotter sound than we have had on other similar Les Pauls. As ever, this guitar features all the typical Les Paul Custom appointments, with gold hardware, multi ply binding and split diamond headstock inlay.
This guitar is in very good condition, with only relatively minor signs of play wear and patina to the finish on the body and neck. The pickup covers, bridge and tailpiece have sustained a fair amount of oxidisation over the years, but are otherwise original and correct for the period. The tuners are the Gibson branded Schaller type found during this time. This guitar is internally and externally original save for the control knobs, which are newer. This guitar also includes a non original case.
