Introduced in 1951, the Fender Precision Bass was the first solid body electric bass guitar ever produced, and is undoubtedly the most popular bass guitar design throughout music history. The Precision Bass has long been the go bass guitar in studio and on stage, with its stripped back design, minimal controls and split coil pickup offering a huge amount of versatility for a variety of styles.

This 1978 Precision Bass is a typical example of a late '70s Fender bass. This Precision Bass features an Alder body with a Maple neck and fingerboard, with a slightly narrower nut width than found on '60s or '50s models. The body is finished in a vibrant 3 tone Sunburst that has retained all of its colour, with some obvious signs of play wear collected over the years. The neck features the four bolt design, and the body is finished off with a black plastic pick guard and traditional P Bass split coil pickup.

This guitar is in very good condition, with some play wear to the front and back of the body and some patina to the metal hardware. The lacquer on the front of the headstock has yellowed, but the finish is in otherwise great condition. The original bridge and pickup cover remain intact. The guitar is internally and externally original, with the CTS pots dating to the 11th week of 1977.

This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty. This guitar also includes a hard case.
