Introduced in 1947 as the natural finished counterpart to the J-45, the Gibson J-50 evolved through the decades, adopting the square shouldered body design in 1969. This 1976 example reflects that later construction style, pairing a spruce top with mahogany back, sides, and neck for the clear, balanced tone associated with 1970s Gibson acoustics. Other features include the traditional rosewood fingerboard, belly-down rosewood bridge, and larger celluloid pickguard.

The instrument remains in very good condition for its age, showing typical lacquer patina and play wear. It is original and free of an major repair work, and includes a period chipboard case.

This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
