The Gibson Les Paul Deluxe was introduced in 1969 along side other Les Paul models that marked a return to the '50s style single cutaway body shape. Initially produced as gold top models, the Les Paul Deluxe featured a set of mini humbuckers akin to the 'New York' style pickups used on earlier Epiphone models, and though these guitars did reach the same levels of popularity as the more traditional spec Les Paul Custom models of the same period, the Deluxe has gone on to become something of a cult favourite due to the unique sound of the mini humbuckers. This 1974 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop is a great example in arguably the models most sought after finish.

This guitar features a Mahogany pancake body along with a Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays. The mini humbuckers offer a clarity and dynamic range that sets them apart from both humbuckers and single coils, offering a unique range of tones. The chrome hardware is present and correct as was standard for this model, along with the cream pick guard.

This guitar is in very good condition, with very little play wear to speak of. The Gold lacquer finish is in good condition and has not suffered from the finish turning slightly green as happens with some examples when excessively worn. This guitar is internally and externally original, with the exception of a replacement set of double line, double ring tuners. The Pat No. mini hum buckers, Nashville bridge and tailpiece and all other hardware are original and correct. The original CTS pots date to the 23rd week of 1973.

As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by the luthier at the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 3 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty.
