This 1970 Gibson SG Standard is a fantastic example of a later period SG, as the model would begin to become synonymous with heavy rock throughout the 1970's. Constructed from a Mahogany body and neck, this SG is finished in a dark Mahogany stain. The body is fitted with the a set of original Patent No. hum buckers, which are particularly warm and full bodied in this case. The double ring Kluson tuners and vibrato are original and correct for the period, and the bridge is the grey poly wire variation used by Gibson for a short time. The pots are original but unfortunately show no readable codes, and all other wiring and electronics are correct for the period. The neck is a comfortable 'D' shape that is superbly playable.

This guitar is in very good condition, with plenty of lacquer checking and play wear as you would expect to see from an instrument of this age. It is repair free, and includes its original case.

The guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
