First introduced in 1960 to serve as a top of the line model alongside the J-200, the Gibson Hummingbird has been one of the most played and sought after acoustic guitars of the last 60 years, remaining a constant in the Gibson catalog since its introduction. This 1967 Hummingbird is a great example from the last really excellent year of Gibson flattop production in the 1960's, with the braces becoming bulkier and the guitars becoming slightly less resonant from 1969 onwards. Constructed from a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, the Hummingbird features a beautifully ornate pick guard similar to that of the later Dove mode, along with the typical cherry sunburst finish. This guitar features all the 1967 specs you would expect to find, with a belly up rosewood bridge, adjustable rosewood saddle, screw down 5 point pickguard and gold double lined Kluson Deluxe tuners.
This guitar is in very good condition, with some minor play wear and obvious signs of age to the finish. There has been a previously repaired crack to the top which is stable, and this guitar is free from any further repair work. This guitar also includes a non original hard case.
This guitar has been given a full service by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
