Teisco guitars initially began production in the late '40s, and became one of the most popular budget guitar brands throughout the 1950's & '60s, being widely exported from Japan all over the United States and UK, and were often the first instrument of budding young guitar players. Although often associated with the beginner end of the market, a lot of Teisco guitars were forward thinking and fairly 'out there,' both sonically and aesthetically. This 1965 Teisco Del Rey is a percent example of just that, featuring a futuristic mid '60s offset design and uniquely voiced electronics. The pronounced horns and offset waist make for a body shape that is reminiscent of the Mosrite guitars that were so closely associated with Californias surf scene. The original hardware is intact and fully functional, including the vibrato tailpiece which often goes missing on these models.

The body is fitted with a set of single coil pickups which have a mellow and dynamic sound, working excellently for both clean and dirty playing. This guitar is in very good condition for this kind of instrument, with only minor signs of play wear. It is internally and externally original, with the exception of a replaced orange drop cap in the tone circuit.

As with all our instruments, this guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 3 year warranty.
