Introduced in the Martin catalog in 1964, the Martin D-12/20 was the companies first 12 string model, designed as a relatively affordable 12 string flattop for working musicians. This 1964 Martin D-12/20 is a great example of an affordable vintage Martin from the first production year of the model, featuring a nicely aged Spruce top and Mahogany back, sides & neck. Similar to the D-18, the D-12/20 has a more stripped back, workhorse look than other Martin dreadnoughts of the time, but still has perfectly balanced tone, with great articulation, projection and that typical 12 string shimmer. Other features include celluloid binding and a celluloid pickguard, along with a Style 28 checkered backstripe.
This guitar is in very good condition, with some lacquer checking and patina to the top and back, and a small patch of wear through the lacquer to the rear of the body. This guitar is all original, although there have been some previous crack repairs to the top, and the bridge has been re-glued at some point.
As with all our vintage instruments, this guitar has been given a thorough service & setup by the Vintage Instrument Workshop and is guaranteed for 2 years in line with our vintage instrument warranty.
